Next Generation Personal Role Radios from Selenia Communications
To be Shown At the Association of the U.S. Army Show, Washington DC
October 3-5, 2005
The worlds leading supplier of warfighter radios, SELEX Communications, introduces the enhanced secure data capable Personal Role Radio (PRR) version 1.5 and the award winning multi-mode PRR version 4.0; both authorized for deployment with US forces.
SELEX Communications is a Finmeccanica company.
The AN/PRC-343 Personal Role Radio (PRR) is an exceptional intra-squad radio that is small, lightweight and unobtrusive, enabling messages to be relayed quickly and easily with low risk of detection. Over 20,000 units are operationally deployed with US forces, while 120,000 units are in use with over 27 coalition partners worldwide.
After observing PRR’s effectiveness during OIF 1, Lieutenant General James N. Mattis, USMC recommended, “PRRs be issued to each Marine Infantryman in each Infantry Battalion and Regiment of the Marine Division for use by Marines in the last 500 meters up close and personal with the enemy”
Building on the success of PRR 1.0, SELEX responded to customer requirements for enhanced security and range, resulting in PRR 1.5 which incorporates encryption, increased power and independent voice and data mode.
SELEX PRR 4.0 is the next generation PRR, capable of switching between analog & digital modes to allow integration with legacy radios as well as next generation digital encrypted handhelds and trunking infrastructures. Additional PRR 4.0 features include Calling Party Identification, Text Messaging, and End-to-End Encryption.
All SELEX PRR’s share a large number of accessories including the patented wireless Press-To-Talk (PTT) and Dual PTT.The wireless PTT allows individual squad members to talk to each other without letting go of their weapons. The Dual PTT function allows the PRR to send and receive onIntra-squad and Command Radio Nets simultaneously.
